• The physics of magnetospheric substorms, and
• The ionospheric signatures of nightside reconnection, and its relationship to the substorm processes.

The key scientific topic currently being addressed are:

• Ionospheric signatures of the substorms
• The global response of substorms
• The recurrence of substorms
• Reconnection signatures of substorms

The project exploits mainly data from the Halley PACE HF and SuperDARN radars, and complementary satellite data such as those from the Global Geospace Science mission.
