Eric Wolff

I am a scientist in the Ice and Climate Division of the British Antarctic Survey. I lead the project entitled "The relationship between atmospheric chemistry and concentrations in ice cores".

I am organising a meeting of the UK PAGES community in London in March 2000: see here for more details.

In the quinquennium 2000-2005, I will be principle investigator for the programme, Signals in Antarctica of past Global Changes (SAGES), which combines ice core, marine sediment, lake sediment and tropospheric chemistry studies to study palaeoclimate of Antarctica within the context of global changes.

Current research interests include air/snow chemical transfer functions, climate change from ice cores, polar atmospheric chemistry, heavy metals in ice cores, and electrical properties of ice.

In 1995, I acted as Director of a NATO Advanced Research Workshop: Processes of Chemical Exchange between the Atmosphere and Polar Snow. For more information on this workshop, click here.

I am involved in a number of projects and activities, including:

I am a member of the following societies:

Since 1996, I have been the UK representative on the SCAR Working Group on Glaciology. More information on this, including a listing of UK lead investigators involved in Antarctic glaciology can be found by clicking here.

Since 1999, I have been a member of the UK IGBP (International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme) National Committee, with particular responsibility for issues related to the PAGES project that deals with palaeoclimate.. There is a web page for the UK IGBP National Committee.
